Penticton Support Group for Special Needs

I am the founder of a support group in Penticton for families that have children 0-5 years of age with special needs. I have a 11 month old son with DS and we have 2 other children in our group with DS. I didn't want to exclude anyone that doesn't have a child with DS as we all deal with the same emotions regards of the disability.

We don't have a name for our group yet but we do meet once a month at The Boys & Girls Club in Penticton.

Fraser Valley Down Syndrome Support Group

(a parent group of the Lower Mainland Down syndrome Society)

The Fraser Valley Down syndrome Support group (FVDSS) is a parent group of the LMDSS for families of persons with Down syndrome in the Chilliwack, Abbotsford, Mission, Aldergrove, and surrounding areas. We host Parent Evenings on the Second Thursday of each month at 7:30 at Plaza 154 on Ventura Ave. in Abbotsford, B.C. where parents get together to socialize and occasionally listen to guest speakers. We also have an annual Walk for Awareness, Christmas Party, Family Picnic as well as various other activities throughout the year foster awareness in our community, friendships and support for one another.
We also run a New Parent Visiting program where we welcome new families who have just welcomed a child with Down syndrome into their lives. If you are a new parent, or know of one, our trained visitors would love to meet with you and offer any advice and support we can. We even have a special gift for you!
